Empressive Cakes, LLC is a custom design cake and confections business in Brooklyn, NY. We provide custom and standard celebration cakes, wedding cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and candy buffets. Cakes are baked in licensed bakery in Carroll Gardens West. Consultations are by appointment only. We bake from scratch with the best ingredients providing you with a fresh and delicious cake. We limit the amount of orders we take just to give every order the attention it needs, giving your confection order the royal treatment.. Along with my talented decorators, I will work with you to come up with a fantastic design that will translate into the most wonderful and delicious cake you ever had.

About the Cake Designer...

For Karen Charles Teesdale, her love of baking started as a young girl. Taught by her late mother, Patsy, she and her older sister Shurla were responsible for baking delicious traditional Caribbean cakes and pastries for the holiday season. During the year, she would practice making muffins, decorating chocolate and yellow cakes, and saving wedding cake pictures, which she  dreamed about making one day. Karen put her love for baking off to start a career as a Registered Nurse but after being frustrated by the lack of good tasting cakes while planning her sons' birthday party, she decided to dust off her mixer and return to her passion. With great help and encouragement from her husband, Kirk, her family, friends and co-workers, Empressive Cakes was started in 2006. To improve her skills she studied with world renowned cake decorator Chef Toba Garrett at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, were she plans on enrolling in the Pastry Arts program in the near future. She is also a member of  the International Cake Exploration Societe ( ICES ).
